Eczema Sufferers: Changing your diet may help!

Eczema is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that can be debilitating to live with. About 35 million Americans have to endure symptoms such as red, dry, itchy and scaly skin. While the skin condition has no known cure, working with a Dermatologist and changing your diet can help.
-Beware of milk and eggs: Eczema sufferers have higher than normal antibodies in their system. The most common sources of allergic reactions are milk, eggs, peanuts, fish, soy, wheat, gluten, citrus and chocolate. Cutting out these foods one at time, can be a good way to identify if they are contributing to your eczema. But this should be done with the guidance of your doctor or nutritionist.
-Eat more yogurt: The health of the digestive tract can have an effect on eczema sufferers by supporting your immune system.
-Swap in whole grain carbs: Inflammation is a key component in the development of eczema, so following an anti-inflammatory diet can be beneficial. Try to eat wholegrain carbohydrates, proteins and plenty of vegetables to help keep your insulin levels down. Stay away from sugar and refined carbohydrates which elevate insulin levels and in turn promote inflammation.
-Up your zinc level: You need to ensure you have a good balance of vitamins, minerals and flavonoids in your diet. Increase your zinc consumption by eating more seafood, pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate and lean red meat.
